Providence uses proximity keyless entry technology for students, faculty and staff. This allows us to provide a safe and secure learning environment. Doors are locked during school hours and only those with an active ID can gain admission. Unlike traditional keys, should a proxy card be lost, it is simply disabled. A lost key, on the other hand, requires retooling of the locks of all doors the key opens—an expensive and time consuming process.

The proxy badge ID replaces the traditional student ID card, and should be carried by the student at all times. It features a photo as well as a barcode of the student’s ID number used in Schoolmaster. This barcode provides convenient and secure checkout for cafeteria purchases and may have other uses in the future.

Student proxy ID cards operate the following doors:

Student Entrance 7:00AM – 8:00AM

7:00AM – 8:25AM
on Blue Days

Main Entrance 3:00PM – 4:00PM
Larkin Lobby 3:00PM – 4:00PM

Times are adjusted in the event of late opening, and the doors will not open on weekends, holidays or when the school is otherwise closed to students.

Keyless Entry FAQ

What should I do if I lost my card?

Even if you think you might have temporarily misplaced your ID, you should report that it is missing so that it may be disabled.

How should I report a lost card and request a replacement?

Replacement badges can be issued from the main office.

What is the cost for a replacement ID badge?

The replacement cost of an ID badge is $5. This charge covers the cost of the card itself, which contains proxy technology as well as offsets the cost of the expensive printing supplies. This fee is paid to the Main Office when the replacement badge is picked up.

What happens when I submit a replacement ID badge request?

The lost badge is disabled for door access. A new badge is printed in the Main Office.

What should I do if I find my old badge?

Notify Mr. Riddle and he can enable the badge for door access if it is for the current year. Only one active badge will be permitted per student. ID badges from prior years will not be reactivated.
